Modern Slavery and Ethical Recruitment
Respect for people underpins our work.
Cleverain Pty Ltd is committed to ethical recruitment and business relationships that respect people’s dignity, safety and freedom.
We oppose modern slavery, including forced labour, human trafficking, debt bondage, servitude and deceptive recruitment. Our commitment extends to our own operations and the suppliers and business partners connected with our services.
Ethical recruitment
We are committed to:
- providing honest information about roles, remuneration and working arrangements
- not charging candidates fees for finding or attempting to find work
- respecting each person’s freedom to accept or decline an opportunity
- not withholding passports or original identity documents, or using threats, debt or other pressure to control workers; and
- supporting fair treatment, lawful working conditions and recruitment free from unlawful discrimination.
Responsible business relationships
We expect suppliers and business partners to respect workers’ rights, comply with applicable employment laws and avoid exploitative practices.
Our approach is to consider modern slavery risks when selecting and reviewing providers, make proportionate enquiries where concerns arise, and seek specialist advice when needed. This commitment is not a guarantee that every part of a supply chain is free from risk.
Raising a concern
Candidates, workers, clients and suppliers can raise concerns directly with Alison or Anthony through our Contact and Feedback page.
We will take reports seriously, handle information sensitively and will not penalise anyone for raising a concern honestly. Information will be shared only where needed to respond appropriately or meet legal obligations.
Where a concern is identified, our response will prioritise the safety and interests of affected people. Depending on the circumstances, this may involve seeking specialist advice, cooperating with authorities, requesting corrective action or reviewing the business relationship.
Suspected modern slavery can also be reported to the Australian Federal Police on 131 237. In an emergency or where someone is in immediate danger, call 000.
Responsibility and review
Our directors are responsible for overseeing this commitment and reviewing it as our business, risks and legal obligations change.
This is a voluntary public commitment. It is not an annual modern slavery reporting statement submitted under the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth).
